Program Description
The purpose of this certificate is to prepare graduates to enter the workforce in the role of an effective, efficient central service employee and will prepare graduates to function in the sterile supply processing and distribution areas of healthcare facilities. Under general supervision, with opportunity to make independent decisions, performs the duties of a Central Supply Technician which include receiving, sorting, inspecting, cleaning, disinfecting, assembling, preparing, sterilizing, storing and issuing disposable and non-disposable supplies, instruments, and equipment. Theory courses and participatory laboratory classes will prepare the student for clinical application of skills and knowledge in the healthcare environment. Graduates who complete the certificate may after employment choose to complete a national certification in central service materials management.
