OTC Forestry Students Participate In Timber Study

Students in the Okefenokee Technical College forestry program recently took part in a timber inventory study at Dixon Memorial State Park near Waycross.
According to program instructor Tommy Peagler, “Forestry students battled the elements while determining timber values on state forested lands.” Peagler also noted that OTC students get valuable training from this type of hands-on timber cruising. Assisting with the timber cruise was Joe 2010 Forestry ClassWall, pictured far left. Mr. Joe is retiring from the Georgia Forestry Commission later this month and will be missed by everyone, stated Peagler, especially the forestry students at OTC. Pictured along with Mr. Joe are forestry students Tammy Cannon (L to R), Joey Clemmer, Aaron Wall, Jason Ammons, Derek Harper, Austin Thrift, Cody Johnson, Jasper Raulerson, James Hampton, Jim Hickox, Sarah Strickland, and Matthew Stoddard.
