OTC Faculty & Staff Give To Foundation

Internal Campaign Is Success with 100% Participation

Dr. Glenn Deibert, Okefenokee Technical College interim president, is pleased to announce that the 2012-13 internal campaign for the OTC Foundation was a huge success. OTC faculty and staff demonstrated its support for higher education, the college, and the OTC Foundation in a big way, with 100% gifting participation and fulfilled goals.

According to Cindy Tanner, executive director of the OTC Foundation, three goals were set for the internal campaign, and OTC faculty and staff exceeded each goal. “The most important goal, I believe, is 100% participation,” stated Tanner. “Meeting this goal tells the community that OTC employees believe in the mission of the college at a level above a paycheck. It says that we understand the importance of workforce development in the community and our role as educators to ensure that employers have qualified applicants.” “It’s significant to note, too, that the OTC Foundation has enjoyed 100% participation from college faculty and staff for the past four years,” continued Tanner.  

Three goals were set for the campaign, and all three goals were met. The Foundation set one goal for each of the following areas: participation, total gifting, and 1% Club. Every full-time OTC employee and several part-time staff provided a monetary gift to the Foundation to support students, programs, and academic initiatives and to meet the 100% goal; the overall gifting total for 2012 exceeded the monetary goal of $23,000; and four additional employees joined the 1% Club, increasing club membership to 24. 1% Club members pledge to donate at least 1% of their salary to the Foundation.

Mr. Larry Paulk, Foundation Chair, congratulated the staff for another successful campaign and thanked them for their generosity. He agreed that the financial support of OTC employees is a testament of their belief in technical education and the mission of the college. Dr. Glenn Deibert, interim president of the college, also extended appreciation to the staff, stating that many students depend on the financial support of the Foundation in order to attend and complete college. The campaign kicked off in late June and ended September 30.
