Gerald Whitehurst has accepted the position of recruiter for the
Freight Conductor program at Okefenokee Technical College. As the recruiter
for this specialized program, Whitehurst will be actively seeking potential
candidates for the program from designated market areas in Alabama, Georgia,
and South Carolina.
His previous work experience includes employment with Rayonier
in Jesup, General Manager for Athens Iron Works, manager
and financial para-planner for American Express Financial
Advisors in Athens, and fabrication supervisor for Thrall
Car, Inc, in Winder. He also served in the U. S. Army from
1989 until 1992 in tactical satellite communications and
was deployed to Northern Iraq during the Gulf War.
Whitehurst earned his associate degree in business administration
from Gainesville College and went on to earn has a bachelor
of business administration with a concentration in management
from Piedmont College.
He and his wife Tammy have two children—Ella Grace,
4, and Ada Faith, 3 months old. They live in Hoboken and
are members of Mars Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Hoboken.
Gerald spends his spare time playing with his kids, building
a house, singing Sacred Harp music, making custom furniture,
creating metal sculpture and learning to play Blues guitar.
