Amy Hiers is Jones Company Scholarship Recipient

Amy Hiers (second from right), a respiratory care technology student at Okefenokee Technical College, is the most recent recipient of the Jones Company Scholarship at Okefenokee Technical College. Patrick and Jimmy Jones established the Jones Company Scholarship Fund in 2006 to ensure that deserving students attending Okefenokee Tech can meet their educational goals. Dr. Gail Thaxton and the OTC staff would like to express appreciation to Flash Foods for the Jones Company fund that benefits students, their families, and our community. 

Hiers, a Brantley resident, is a 2005 graduate of Charlton County High School. She was recently named on the college’s President’s List and an active member of the OTC SkillsUSA organization.

“The respiratory program is extremely challenging,” states Amy on her scholarship application, “but even more rewarding. I feel that I have finally found my true calling in life.”

“I highly recommend Amy for this honor,” stated Mathis. “She has displayed a strong commitment toward completing the program, and I have no doubt that she will succeed,” Mathis continued. “I consider Ms. Hiers to be an outstanding student with excellent work ethics, which will make her an asset to the respiratory profession.”
