Karen Boyle Is New OTC Retention Coordinator

Karen Boyle

Karen Boyle recently accepted the new position of Retention Coordinator at Okefenokee Technical College. As Retention Coordinator, Mrs. Boyle provides retention counseling services and is responsible for the overall effort to develop and implement the college’s retention strategies.

In addition to this new position, Boyle will continue to serve as the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) Coordinator for Okefenokee Tech. She has coordinated this event with great success for the past four years. In fact, Okefenokee Technical College has had the statewide GOAL winner for two of the past three years. In addition, Mrs. Boyle has been appointed to serve on the state GOAL planning committee.

Prior to accepting the position of Retention Coordinator, Boyle taught psychology and Human Relations at OTC. She has taught online courses in the distance learning program for over four years in the subject areas of sociology, psychology and human relations.  She was originally hired full time as the New Connections to Work Program Coordinator in June 2001. Prior to 2001 Boyle worked part-time as an assessment instructor for OTC.

Mrs. Boyle worked at the Okefenokee Georgia Youth Science and Technology Center, where she served as interim coordinator, before joining OTC. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology Psychology from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, and a Master’s of Social Work from Tulane University. Immediately following the completion of her master’s degree, Mrs. Boyle worked in psychiatric social work at Charity Hospital of New Orleans.

Karen Boyle is married to William C. H. Boyle, Jr. and has three children: Julia (husband Matt) Benton, William III and Cameron.  She attends First United Methodist Church of Waycross.
