OTC Students Excel at PBL Competition

Congratulations to Okefenokee Technical College Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) members for their performance at the South District Conference regional competition. Five students participated in the competition, according to OTC club advisors Marcia Braddock and Christine Whitley.

The event was held February 19, 2010, in Columbus, Georgia. “It was a long day for everyone attending, but well worth it,” stated Braddock. “I’m happy to say that OTC was well represented and our students made us very proud.  We brought home four 1st place awards and two 2nd place awards.”  PBL Group

Once again, OTC students demonstrated their skills in Network Design, taking first and second place. Jared Bartlett placed 1st and Jack Tuten placed 2nd.

Jared Bartlett also won 1st place in Computer Concepts, while Jack Tuten earned 1st place in Help Desk.

Elizabeth Valez-Hill took 1st place in Job Interview, and Rodney Hooks placed 2nd in Public Speaking.

According to Whitley, the event tests participants’ business knowledge and skills and prepares them for state competition, which is scheduled for April 9-11 at the Westin Atlanta North at Perimeter, Atlanta, Georgia. OTC will enter twenty students in this competition.
