OTC Students Excel at PBL Competition

Eight Okefenokee Technical College students competed in the Georgia Phi Beta Lambda South District Conference competition in Albany, Georgia, on February 20, according to club advisors Leighan Sweat and Amanda Morris Dryden. The club brought home twelve certificates of award: five 1st place awards, three 2nd place awards, and four 3rd place awards.

Once again, OTC students swept the Network Design competition: Sean Johnson placed 1st, R. J. Driver - 2nd, and Jared Bartlett - 3rd. This year, OTC students also swept Networking Concepts. Sean Johnson placed 1st, Brandi Balbach - 2nd and Jared Bartlett - 3rd.  PBL Participants

Other winners include Tammy Cannon, 3rd in Accounting Principles; Jack Tuten, 1st in Computer Concepts; Kaleah Pauley, 1st in Cyber Security; Brandi Balbach, 1st in Help Desk; Jack Tuten, 2nd in Help Desk; and Phillip Dickson, 3rd in Marketing Concepts.

According to Sweat, the event tests participants’ business knowledge and skills and prepares them for the state competition in April.

Phi Beta Lambda is a postsecondary student organization that provides programs designed to foster the development of business leadership skills.
