OTC Board Members Take Oath

Three members of the Okefenokee Technical College Board of Directors took the oath of office at the June board meeting held in Room 309 of the Rodney Moore Building, Waycross Campus. Judge Mike DeVane administered the oath to Jack Johnson (Alma), Dr. Keith Johnson (Ware), and Pete Pyrzenski (Ware).

OTC President Gail Thaxton and Board Chair John Pharr welcomed Dr. Keith Johnson, Medical Director and Chief of Anesthesia for the Southeast Georgia Anesthesia LLC at Satilla Regional Medical Center, to the Board, and congratulated Jack Johnson and Pete Pyrzenski as they were reappointed to serve a second three-year term.

President Thaxton thanked Board members for their commitment to serve the community through support of higher education.

The OTC Board is composed of eight members representing the College’s six-county service delivery area. All counties are represented by at least one board member who is a resident of that respective county. Board members for the 2011-12 year are Board Chair John Pharr, Ware; Chair-Elect Pete Pyrzenski, Ware; Phillip Cook, Clinch; Dr. Bonnie Davis, Charlton; Jack Johnson, Bacon; Daniel Johnson, Pierce; and Dr. Greg Jacobs, Brantley.

OTC board members represent a variety of business, industry, and economic development backgrounds and bring with them leadership skills and a wealth of experience. Board members often communicate community needs to the President and administration; and as a result, OTC considers its local Board of Directors a vital asset in the quest to fulfill the mission of the College. The local Board meets monthly.
