Sue Johnson, Satilla REMC Foundation Secretary, welcomed everyone and explained that the contribution to the OTC Foundation was made possible by Satilla’s Smart Change Program. The program was established in 1999 and is funded by Satilla REMC members who round up their monthly electric bills to the next even dollar. Johnson said that Satilla is very proud of the program and very proud to partner with Okefenokee Technical College to support education in our community.

“We are sincerely grateful for this investment in the college,” said President Thaxton. “I can tell you that the money will be used for scholarships, program equipment, and capital projects that advance the work of the college. We appreciate your investment in technical education.” She invited everyone to visit the new Alma Campus in 2009 and witness the state-of-the-art equipment and newly-renovated facility that will train the workforce of the future.
