American Proteins Supports OTC Foundation

Forsyth County business and civic leader Tommy Bagwell and his wife, Chantal, established a $500,000 Bagwell Family Foundation Scholarship Endowment Fund in 2005 to provide scholarships for students attending technical colleges located near their family business locations. The family business, American Proteins, Inc., currently has three locations, including one in Alma, Georgia. Scholarship recipients are chosen using the following criteria: financial need, proximity to the company’s operation sites, and probability of success.

“We thank the Bagwells and American Proteins for their support of technical education, workforce development, and economic growth,” said OTC President Gail Thaxton. The scholarship awards provided by these funds will help three deserving students meet their educational goals.”

OTC President Gail Thaxton thanked Jimmy Rice (right), Human Resources Manager for American Proteins and Jay Rabon (left), American Proteins Plant Manager in Alma, for their continued support of Okefenokee Technical College when they visited the campus recently. On their visit, Rice and Rabon presented Thaxton with a check for $1,500 to go toward three $500 Bagwell Scholarships for deserving OTC students. The contribution was made possible by Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Bagwell.
