David Sandiford Receives Pat Knox Award

David Sandiford (left), a surgical technology student at Okefenokee Technical College, has been selected as the 2007 recipient of the Pat Knox Scholastic Achievement Award for maintaining the highest academic average in the class.  Sally Smith, Surgical Technology program director and Sandiford’s instructor, recently presented him with an award plaque and scholarship check.

The Pat Knox Scholastic Achievement Award was established in 1993 by the Pat Knox family and the OTC Foundation trustees and staff as a tribute to Mrs. Knox, who taught Surgical Technology at Okefenokee Technical College.

Sandiford has been actively involved in several student organizations at OTC. As a member of SkillsUSA, Sandiford, along with three of his classmates, won the gold medal at the state competition in Occupational Health and Safety and placed second (Silver) at the national challenge in Kansas City.
