Mark Deal Named as 2008 GGIA Board Member

Mark Deal has been selected to serve as one of the 2008 Georgia Green Industry Association (GGIA) Board of Directors. The GGIA is a non-profit association, incorporated in the State of Georgia, representing the interests of the state's nursery, garden center, and landscape industry.

Membership in the GGIA is comprised of nursery stock growers, landscape contractors and maintenance firms, garden centers, arborists and allied suppliers. The mission of the GGIA is to advance and promote the horticulture industry by setting the standard for professionalism, excellence, and environmental stewardship.Mark Deal

Board members serve on one of five divisions of the GGIA: Landscape, Floriculture, Sales & Marketing, Retail, or Wholesale. Deal serves on the Landscape Division, as well as the education committee, an internal committee of the GGIA.

Deal, a Pierce County resident, is the program director of the Environmental Horticulture program at Okefenokee Technical College. He is certified in numerous areas, including Georgia Certified Landscape Professional, Georgia Certified Plant Professional, and Georgia Commercial Pesticide Applicator. He is also a Georgia Master Gardener.

Deal and his wife, Laura, have four children: Jessica, Jennifer, Joel, and Savannah.
