Radiology Pinning Ceremony

In an impressive pinning and awards ceremony held in the Okefenokee Technical College Miller Lecture Hall on March 15, twelve students received their pins upon completion of the Radiologic Technology program at Okefenokee Technical College (OTC).

Dr. Jewell Sweat, Radiology Program Director, and Mrs.  Donna Yeomans, Radiology Clinical Coordinator, presented pins to the following students: Tyler Johnson, Harriet Taylor, Bacon County; Joni Lane, Hope Turner, Brantley County; Karen Spivey, Lacey Streat, Coffee County; Ellen Stanfield, Amber Walker, Pierce County; Molly Murray, Leah Peagler, Douglas Quick, Jason Thrift, Ware County.

The coveted Mallinckrodt Award, which was established over 50 years ago, was presented to Amber Walker as the student with the highest grade point average for the two years by Dr. Sweat.

The following persons were presented awards:  Amber Walker, Satilla Regional Medical Center (SRMC) Outstanding Student Award; Karen Spivey, the Coffee Regional Medical Center (CRMC) Outstanding Student Award; Hope Collins, R.T., the SRMC Outstanding Technologist’s Award; Rhonda Holton, R.T., CRMC Outstanding Technologist’s Award.

Everyone enjoyed a media presentation introduced by Doug Quick and Jason Thrift that featured the students through the many exciting events of their two years at OTC.

Ellen Stanfield and Leah Peagler gave the invocation. Hope Turner and Amber Walker welcomed family and friends. Tyler Johnson and Leah Peagler recognized special guests. The closing was given by Lacey Streat.

On behalf of the entire class, Joni Lane and Molly Murray presented gifts to Dr. Sweat and Mrs. Yeomans, their instructors, for their patience and support during their two years of training. The Douglas students presented a special award to Mrs. Jodie Vickers, CRMC Clinical Instructor.

Molly Murray and Joni Lane presented certificates of appreciation from the class to the following clinical affiliates:  Satilla Regional Medical Center, Coffee Regional Medical Center, Appling Healthcare System, Bacon County Hospital, Charlton Memorial Hospital, Clinch Memorial Hospital, Wayne Memorial Hospital, and Orthopaedic Specialists of South Georgia.
