Thomas Wesley Completes Certification Training in Telecommunications

Okefenokee Technical College electronics program director Thomas Wesley recently completed an intensive eight-day training program in Sparta, New Jersey, in which he earned three certifications. Wesley is now a C-Tech certified instructor in Copper Based Systems, Fiber Optics Based Systems, and Integrated Systems & Voice Messaging (ISVM).

This accomplishment is significant for Wesley, of course, but it is equally significant for potential OTC electronics students. OTC will now offer a course of study that provides a more realistic familiarization with the “Physical Layer” systems of the telecommunications industry. Thomas Wesley

The systems covered in these additional courses are used throughout the telecommunications industry. The courses will provide students with the skills necessary to secure positions as “Entry Level Network Technicians.”  After completion of these courses, students will be able to troubleshoot, terminate, test, and install Copper-based, Voice and Video, and Fiber Optic based systems. Also after completion of each course, students will be able to gain a C-Tech Certification in one or all areas.

Thomas is a graduate of Ware County High School and Okefenokee Technical College. He attended OTC in 1998 after his service in the Air Force.  After graduating with honors from the OTC Electronics Technology program, where he specialized in Biomedical Electronics, Thomas  worked as a Biomedical Electronics Technician at the Coffee Regional Medical Center.

While employed at Coffee Regional Medical Center, he earned his A.A.S. in Electronics Technology from Waycross College, and his B.S. in Information Technology from American Intercontinental University.

Thomas and his wife, Latricia Wesley, have four children: Kelo, Omar, Shayla, and Jennifer.
